CSTC Managing Partners and other staff attend national AATOD Conference in Baltimore, MD

The national conference of the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, Inc. (AATOD) was held at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Maryland from October 29th through November 2nd. CSTC Chief Executive Officer Keith A. Jones, Jr., CSTC Chief Operating Officer Zachary Talbott, and CSTC – Chatsworth Director of Security Alan “Chip” Fuller were in attendance.

CSTC COO Talbott was involved in multiple conference offerings including co-teaching the Certified Medication Assisted Treament Advocate (CMA) Training Course, co-facilitating a Hot Topic Roundtable Discussion centered around building community partnerships with Ivette Ruiz, MEd of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and co-facilitating a Workshop Presentation on patients and providers uniting to confront stigma along side Joycelyn S. Woods, MA from the National Alliance for Medication Assisted Recovery (NAMA) and Herman Joseph, PhD of Stop Stigma Now. Dr. Joseph also served alongside Drs. Vincent Dole and Marie Nyswander as their research assistant in the earliest days of methadone treatment.

CSTC – Chatsworth is specifically grateful for the possibility afforded by the Medication Assisted Recovery Services (MARS) Project and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) that allowed a CSTC – Chatsworth patient to attend a MARS Implementation training as a pre-conference session of the national AATOD Conference in order to bring back medication-assisted peer services to our Chatsworth, GA opioid treatment program.

CSTC Leadership remain committed to supporting Opioid Treatment Providers of Georgia (OTPG), the Georgia state chapter of AATOD, the North Carolina Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (NCATOD), the North Carolina state chapter of AATOD, and the many advocacy and policy efforts of national AATOD.
